For a 3rd year running, ZEE was part of Mayor of London’s Diwali Festival in its 11th year on Sunday 28th October in the heart of London at Trafalgar Square. Coinciding with Zee TV’s 20th Diwali Celebrations, the square resembled a vibrant party buzzing with colourful saris, traditional garba, devotional bhajans, Bollywood dancing, live singing, celebrities, food, children’s activities and families from all backgrounds coming together to celebrate the festival of lights in all its glory.

The official numbers confirmed attendance of more than 35,000 people braving the cold and rain on the first weekend of low temperatures. Audiences were driven to the square by heavy promotion across Zee Network’s five TV channels and digital platforms and the powerful line up of artists brought in by ZEE to entertain in the prime time evening stage slot.

Zing presenter Asad Shan from ‘Brit’s Bollywood’ show took over the stage along with the talented female presenter Veena V building up anticipation for the grand finale with Bollywood singing sensation – Ash King accompanied by Shaimak Davar Dance Troupe. Bhangra superstar Juggy D performed with a bruised leg but in his usual high spirits as the masses jumped to his famous songs. Olympic closing ceremony performers VP Entertainment thrilled the audiences with their Bhangra performance while singer Navin Kundra enthralled the crowd with his beautiful songs. Also performing on the day were producers and DJs Punjabi Hit Squad, Shivali, Swatti and Sonia Panesar who showcased their exceptional talents in the true spirit of Diwali.

Queues at the Zee stand kept building throughout the day with subscribers and viewers interacting with the staff to find out all the latest offerings from Zee and Zing audition entries on the day. There was also free henna for the visitors at the Zee stand from the world’s fastest henna artist, Pavan as she coloured hundreds of hands in a couple of hours.

Zee is proud to be part of Mayor of London’s Diwali Festival, which takes place in Trafalgar Square on Sunday 28 October. This is the 3rd year running that Zee is a part of the Diwali Festival in a year that is momentous in every possible way for London and Zee as well.

ZEE has been a market leader entertaining audiences in the UK for over 17 years now and our partnership with the Mayor of London for the third consecutive year could not have come at a better time when Zee TV is celebrating 20 years of providing pure entertainment ever since its launch in India in 1992.

Over the last two years Zee has backed this popular free event, which is organised by the Mayor in partnership with the Diwali in London Committee, through a relentless integrated marketing campaign, leveraging not only its airtime power but harnessing its digital presence too. Zee reaches every South Asian community and can be credited with attracting massive crowds through a heavy-weight campaign, the results of which have been appreciated by not only the event partners but also by viewers across the country.

The event hosted at Trafalgar Square is a fantastic opportunity to bring together communities, families and friends to mark the joyous festival of Diwali. Zee TV will take over the stage to provide glamorous musical entertainment with actor and presenter Asad Shan from ‘Brits Bollywood’ show on Zing along with the talented female presenter Veena V. Bhangra superstar Juggy D will feature some song from his new album and some of his biggest hits. Also performing on the day is VP Entertainment who added a touch of South Asia to the Olympics Closing Ceremony with a Bhangra performance. Zee Network’s popular regional channel Zee Punjabi will be revamping its entertainment to offer a multi-genre palate of new shows.

Marking its tenth anniversary in the UK, the all new Zee Punjabi will showcase a vast 17 hours of original shows per day whilst introducing a new line up of programmes and increasing its News updates, from 27 February.

The channel, which caters to one of the largest South Asian community, will be extending its appeal to all appetites of Punjabi entertainment lovers  with brand new genres spanning from astrology, female chat shows, crime to sports news and more – making Zee Punjabi the only complete Punjabi entertainment channel in the UK. With dramas, reality shows, religion, comedy, music and even Punjabi movies all covered – the channel offers something for every member of the household.

Watch out for the of the first ever dedicated Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Punjabi singing competition show, starting from Saturday 3 March, Saturday-Sunday at 9pm. For the first time ever, the series will feature a UK judge – London’s very own Juggy D , who is synonymous with Punjabi music in the UK and will be judging the talent alongside Jaspinder Narula and Bally Sagoo. Zee  Punjabi celebrated the launch of the show with auditions across the UK, coming up in the series on 3 and 4 March.

Join Zee at the Ideal Home Show for Asian Inspired Entertainment

The Ideal Home Show 2011 kicks-off tomorrow with Zee Network providing a distinctly Asian flavour to Britain’s best loved home show.

Come to this year’s event and enjoy an array of Asian food, music and fashion – bought to you by your favourite Asian entertainment network.
