DIWALI DHAMAKA ON SA RE GA MA PA SINGING SUPERSTAR

Friday, November 5th, 2010

When the rest of India is in a festive mood and Diwali celebrations are in full swing, how can we not celebrate Diwali on the sets of Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing Superstar. Diwali was celebrated with naach-gaana, lighting diyas, making rangolis, bursting crackers and dhamaal music. Sets looked very beautiful with colors strewn around with flowers and decorations and everyone was sporting the broad festive smile.

The show started with the contestants, mentors and anchor singing and wishing viewers “Happy Diwali”. Sajid-Wajid donned the hat of “Diwali Santa”. They brought gifts for all the contestants and Sajid Bhai went a step further and paid extra attention to his attire. He was dressed in crisp white dhoti and kurta with all different variety of crackers embroidered in the front and HAPPY DIWALI written in bold on the back. On his innovative kurta, Sajid Bhai said, “Bas maachis jalane ki der hai, I will take off like a rocket”.

Shekhar gave another reason for the girls to ogle at their TV screens. He looked dapper dressed in a green sherwani and Vishal Dadlani kept aside his rock star image for the day and came dressed in traditional Diwali attire. Well the interesting point is that this is for the first time anyone has ever seen Vishal wearing anything apart from round neck tees and jeans. Not only this but Vishal also got home cooked delicacies and sweets for everyone. He said, “The contestants who are not from Mumbai crave for homemade food all the time and I thought this will be an apt Diwali gift for them.”

Every performance was rocking and reflected the spirit of festivity.

The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson is “delighted” to be working with Zee again for the forthcoming Diwali in Trafalgar Square

Friday, October 22nd, 2010

Mayor of London, Boris Johnson has surely found a successful partner in Zee Network as they team up once again to celebrate the festival of Diwali in London.

Following on from the huge success of this year’s Eid in the Square, where the Zee marquee and celebrity  guests proved to be one of the most popular attractions, Zee is planning to up its presence and add even more of its very own brand of glitz and glamour to the free event.

“Zee is proud to be part of Mayor of London’s Diwali on the Square organized in association with Diwali in London committee.  The event is a fantastic opportunity to bring together communities, families and friends to mark the joyous festival of Diwali. It also provides us with an opportunity to interact with our viewers, which is invaluable to us,” said Govind Shahi, Head of Business for Zee Europe.

In confirming Zee as the preferred media partner, the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, acknowledged the Network’s contribution to the event, “I am delighted that Zee TV are the media partners for Diwali in the Square.  Diwali is a wonderful festival and, with its underlying themes of peace, renewal and co-operation, it has relevance and meaning for all Londoners. I would like to wish everyone a happy and prosperous Diwali.

‘The dynamism and contribution of the Indian community to London’s economic, social and cultural life and their commitment to this city never fails to impress me.  It is with this in mind that  I am calling on all Indian communities to get involved in volunteering during the 2012 Games as well as becoming mentors to work with young people, especially in uniformed groups such as the Scouts and the Cadets.”

Zee Network will not only be marking the festival of lights with its presence and support at the Diwali in the Square event on Sunday 31st October, but will also be filming for three of its UK based shows - Out and About for Zee TV, Regional Out and About on the Network’s hugely successful new launch - Zee Café and Brit’s Bollywood which is broadcast on the free music and lifestyle channel - Zing.

The programmes will capture all of the day’s entertainment and performances giving over 11 million viewers in the UK and across Europe an opportunity to experience this culturally extravagant event.

Zee TV will take over the stage to provide glamorous musical entertainment with presenter Sunita Gardner from ‘Out & About’ show on Zee TV. Performing on the day will be Bhangra superstar Juggy D who will feature some of his biggest hits and soon to release music. Also performing will be nine-piece live band - Botown who are currently #1 on the Official Asian Download Chart with their single Roop Tera.
