London 10^th September 2010. Today Zee Network announced an exclusive media partnership with the Mayor of London to work on this year’s Eid in Trafalgar Square celebration.

The fifth annual event scheduled for Sunday 26th September is set to attract over 30,000 visitors with a packed programme of live music and performers. Highlights of this year’s event include: Popular Nasheed artists Amir Awan, & Khaleel Mohammad, Acoustic Sufi Rock band, Silk Road, Quest-Rah – with his unique Hip-Hop sound, Akeem, a French based, rap/hip hop and spoken word band, plus many more… Also present on the day will be artists, including Mumzy Stranger and SK1, contributing to the glamour on the day brought to you by the Zee Network. Hosting the event will be Zee’s very own presenter Asad from the ‘Brit’s Bollywood’ show on the music and lifestyle channel Zing, along with Hajra from the ‘Zee & U’ show on Zee TV.

In welcoming Zee onboard, the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, acknowledged the Network’s contribution to the event, “I’m delighted to welcome Zee TV as the media partner for our fantastic Eid in the Square celebrations. Charity and community spirit lie at the heart of Eid teachings and it is with this in mind that I’m calling for Muslim volunteers to take part in our drive to get 5,000 volunteers to work with young people in uniformed groups, such as the Scouts and Cadets. I’m also asking for Muslim communities to put themselves forward for the 8,000 Ambassadors we are recruiting to welcome the world to London during the 2012 Games.

There is an amazing array of nasheed artists, live performances, exhibitions and children’s activities on offer on Sunday that I want all Londoners to come and enjoy, but I also want to make 2010 the year that Muslim Londoners make an even bigger contribution than they already do to their communities and their capital city by volunteering their time, energy and expertise.”

Zee Network will not only be marking this important Islamic celebration with its presence and support at the Eid in the Square event on Sunday 26th September, but will also be filming for three of its UK based shows - Out and About, Bengali Out and About, and Brit’s Bollywood to bring the exclusive footage of the day to over 11 million viewers in the UK and across Europe.

Eid in the Square is a free event and all Londoners and, in particular, Zee Network viewers are welcome.
