Zee partners up with the Mayor of London for an extravagant 10th year Diwali celebration in the SquareThursday, October 13th, 2011
Zee Network has once again become the preferred partner to work alongside the Greater London Authority to create a spectacular Diwali celebration in Trafalgar Square hosted by the Mayor of London.
As the exclusive media partner Zee is working closely with the GLA to ensure there is entertainment both on and off the main stage.
This is the tenth anniversary of Diwali celebrations on the square and the day promises to be a family occasion with multi-cultural appeal. The day will be packed full of performances, providing a chance for different communities to join hands and share in the values and significance of Diwali. Visitors to the free event can expect to be entertained by dance performances by the Shiamak Davar Dance team and singing by Preeya Kalidas, Romy Shay, Foji, Nish and many more celebrated artists on the main stage, whilst on the Square there will be much more to do. Visitors can join in with Garba folk dance performances and watch musical performances, whilst enjoying mouth-watering food offerings.
Babita Bahal, Head of Marketing for Zee Network, Europe said, “The Diwali celebrations, hosted by the Mayor of London are a fantastic representation of the principal themes of the festival. Zee is proud, to again be working alongside the GLA to put on culturally rich and entertaining free event. We want to invite all communities to enjoy the Diwali festivities and be part of our Zee Family on 16th October in Trafalgar Square.”
The Zee Network stall is guaranteed to be buzzing with activity with special offers and prize draws. No one should leave the Square without a stunning Henna tattoo from the world’s fastest henna artist, Pavan.
Pavan is the Guinness World Record Holder for being the fastest in her trade. Also expect to hang out with some famous faces only on the Zee Network stall.
Visitors themselves may become the stars of the show as the Zee filming crew will be onsite to capture all the fun and excitement of the day. Zee will broadcast exclusive footage of the event across the Zee Network in UK and Europe reaching over 12 million homes.
Diwali Festival is a free event and the Zee Family, as well as all Londoners are welcome.

Zee TV has roped in the glamorous pop icon and playback
singer Alisha Chinai to co-judge Zee’s upcoming celebrity
musical reality show, ‘Star Ya Rockstar’ alongside renowned
music director Anu Malik.
The ‘Made In India’ maiden expressed great excitement at being signed on for
the position. “I have judged reality shows before where I’ve been called
upon to spot superlative singing talent amongst the masses. But this is my very
first opportunity to judge people who are full-fledged celebrities in their own
right and recognised and loved as actors. I am told each of the actors is
genuinely passionate about music and not roped in merely on the basis of their star
power. I am sure I’ll enjoy the experience of seeing an all-new dimension to
their personalities as they present their hidden talent of singing,”
stated an elated Alisha.
While the show has roped in a second judge, it has also added to its kitty of celebrity
contestants. Joining the ranks of the contestants Ragini Khanna, Neha Marda,
Mansi Parekh, Sumeet Raghavan, Sachin Pilgaonkar and Chhavi Mittal are
actors, Vikas Bhalla and Debina Bonnerji. The vivacious Mona
Singh has also been roped in to be the host of this new musical reality
show, ‘Star Ya Rockstar’.
The first episode of this much anticipated reality show kicks off on
8 October with introductory performances by both judges, Anu Malik and
Alisha Chinai as they reveal the girls & boys respectively to the popular
songs, ‘Gori, Gori’ and ‘It’s rocking…yaara kabhi’.
There will be music and fun in plenty on Zee TV’s upcoming show, Star Ya
Rockstar, so don’t forget to see your favourite TV celebrities in a never
before seen avatar!
Tune in to Star Ya Rockstar, every Saturday and Sunday at 7pm, only on Zee
