A new partnership between the BBC and Zee Network will bring two landmark television programmes made by the BBC World Service Trust to audiences in the UK. The shows are a milestone for international television: Bishaash is South Asia’s first ever supernatural detective series, while BBC Janala – Mojay Mojay Shekha offers a unique approach to teaching English using games and comedy. Originally designed for audiences in Bangladesh, both programmes are part of English in Action, a major initiative launched by the UK's Department for International Development to support the economic development of Bangladesh by raising the English language skills of 25 million people across the country. A recent BBC survey of British Bangladeshis revealed a third consider English skills to be a top issue facing the community. This highlighted an opportunity for people to benefit from the programmes in the UK and prompted the BBC to approach Zee Network as a broadcast partner. Already hugely popular in Bangladesh – now it’s your turn to enjoy the experience. Find out more about the BBC World Service Trust visit (http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/trust/) |
