Zee Network Europe and its broadcast sponsor of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, Lebara Mobile are celebrating more than India’s triumph.
Zee was the official broadcaster of the World Cup with exclusive Hindi commentary in the UK and Europe with Lebara Mobile as the exclusive broadcast sponsor for the live coverage.
Over the past six weeks it has been difficult to ignore Zee’s massive marketing push to ensure cricket fans across Europe did not miss a ball of the World’s Biggest Cricket tournament. Zee put its full marketing muscle behind an integrated communication strategy ranging from traditional door-to-door to digital initiatives, featuring Lebara as its broadcast sponsor.
India’s historic win on Saturday was the icing on the cake for this iconic event which evoked unparalleled enthusiasm and passion for cricket across the globe.
Govind Shahi, Head of Business Zee Europe: “A love for cricket is in the DNA of most South Asians, and our multi-channel marketing campaign was designed to touch South Asians across Europe. Our aim was not simply to drive revenues, but to showcase this massive event to as wide an audience as possible whilst ensuring a key partner such as Lebara gained high visibility. We were successfully in achieving these goals.”
Ratheesan Yoganathan, Founder and CEO of Lebara Group: “We at Lebara are delighted with the success of sponsoring the coverage of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 on Zee Cafe, where millions of cricket fans from across the world rallied together to watch this epic tournament. Our congratulations to team India - the new world champions - and a special salute to the Sri Lankan cricket team which played some of the finest international cricket the world has seen.”
Preet Khanna, Account Director Here&Now365: “The ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 telecast on Zee Cafe was our key sponsorship deal for 2011 – one we are proud to have secured for our client Lebara. We are extremely pleased to report that this collaboration generated incredibly high eyeballs and exposure for Lebara with South Asian households across the UK hooked onto till the very end for a nail-biting finish. We also utilised the telecast as a successful launch pad for Lebara’s new TV ad campaign Personas, which touched the hearts of South Asian viewers during the tournament, as did the cricketers on field.”
Zee Café was launched in July 2010 and promised cricket-lovers world class cricket from around the globe.
