A new, exciting and truly genuine Indian dining experience, rarely found outside of Asia. No expense has been spared with nearly two million pounds being spent on acquiring and building Itihaas as it is today.

Itihaas is synonymous with Indian fine dining where atmosphere and service is just as important as the traditional cuisine.

Contemporary meets traditional in this smart, sophisticated venue which sets out to combine history with exclusivity. Clean, crisp décor complete with plate glass and slate finished walls mixes seamlessly with 18th and 19th century Indian artefacts, including original paintings, carved stone elephants and 300 year old doors leading to the private dining area.

The whole effect is stunning and unforgettable as you step through the front doors to be greeted by hostesses, dressed in modern black, silk saris. A cosy lounge area and licensed bar lead the way in to the Colonial Room with seating for 60 diners overlooking the canal side – floor to ceiling windows and doors on to a terrace for entertaining on warm, summer evenings.

Downstairs the Maharaja Suite (seats 60) is luxurious with opulent mood lighting and an alcove decorated with more Indian treasures and segregated by Mughal colonnade, perfect for a small party or gathering. To complete the regal feel of Itihaas and behind 300 year old Indian wooden doors is the Tiffin Room (seats 12), complete with bar, library and your very own dedicated butler!

Itihaas is the recipient of two prestigious awards - the coveted 2007 Cobra Good Curry Awards for Best UK Restaurant and Best in Midlands. Not only is the award a coup for Itihaas but also for Birmingham, as it is the first time the accolade had been given to an establishment outside of London.
